In-Home & Office Prenatal Consultations

IBCLC help, your home or my office with easy parking

The most challenging breastfeeding issues happen after hours or when you don't have the energy to leave the house. You can even get help during the witching period or during your postpartum period in the hospital.

PRENATAL CONSULTS ARE FOR PARENTS WHO

  • Want to feel prepared for breastfeeding/pumping/chestfeeding/pumping

  • Are worried about nipple/breast/chest pain

  • Want to know what is normal for babies

  • Had previous difficulties with breastfeeding/pumping/chestfeeding

  • Have a history of thyroid issues, diabetes, breast/chest surgeries, or other hormonal challenges (including PCOS)

  • Are going to have a birth with more interventions (ex: induction or belly birth) or a birth 37 weeks or earlier

  • Are first time parents

  • Want to establish contact with an IBCLC prenatally

  • Are expecting and doubting their body's ability to produce milk

  • Are experiencing any doubt or frustration with meeting their feeding goals

  • Do not have much experience with newborns

The two things most parents worry about with lactation is nipple pain and their baby getting enough. According to the CDC these are also the most common reasons for weaning. You don't have to go through this worry alone. I know breastfeeding and you know your baby/body/ life best, together we can come up with a plan.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A PRENATAL CONSULT?

I LEARN MORE ABOUT YOU, YOUR PREGNANCY, YOUR EXPECTED BIRTH PLAN, YOUR BABY AND YOUR POSTPARTUM PLAN

Through forms and conversation, I learn more about you, your baby, and your life. We will talk about any possible yellow flags in your intake forms and how we can minimize the effects of those yellow flags.

You will learn about your baby and lactation

You will learn what is the expected timeline of lactation in the newborn period and how milk production works during this time. You will get hands-on practice with latch, and positioning using a doll. Lastly, we will do a mini flange fitting and you will practice hand expression (if you want).

WE MAKE A PLAN AND UPDATE THE PLAN

We make a plan based on what we have learned in the first two steps. You can then message me in the practice better app if you have questions, updates, or want to check-in. Many parents will message me their insurance pump options or ask me for my favorite products to promote lactation.
